Lebron James was born December 30, 1984 in Akron, Ohio. Commonly nicknamed "King James" and "The Chosen One," James was highly promoted in national media as a future NBA star, and appeared as a High-schooler on the cover of Sports Illustrated Magazine. At the age of eighteen, he was selected with the first overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers, becoming the second high school player chosen as the first overall pick (Kwame Brown being the other). Before debuting in his first official NBA game, James signed an unprecedented $90 million shoe contract by Nike, Inc., and has since gone on to become one of the most prominent players in the league, setting numerous "youngest player" records. He was Rookie of the Year in 2004 and achieved All-NBA and All-Star honors in his second year. . He has put up numbers only the likes of stars like Jordan and West have in playoff history. He has sponsorship deals with the likes of Sprite and Nike, and a successful line of LJ clothing which is part of Nike.
